Do you agree or disagree with thefollowing statement that technology has made people’s life a lot easier thanbefore?
Ibelieve so. There are some reasons. Firstly, it will make life easier. Peoplenowadays are mostly stressed out by work, and rest is the only thing they thinkof after a working day. So if, fortunately, some of the labor work within thefamily area can be finished by machines, it’s a great privilege to theexhausted body. It makes the world a smaller one. In the past, when a family ora friend was overseas, it was less likely to keep in touch with him or her. Buttoday, thanks to the development of modern technology, with the help of onlinecommunication tools, we can talk whenever and wherever we want.

Reading:resilience是ecosystem的capacity去toleratedisturbance without collapsing into a qualitatively different state
Listening: 1.举例：coralreef 太平洋中的
Resilienceis the capacity of an ecosystem to tolerate disturbance without collapsing intoa qualitatively different state. A resilient ecosystem, one with diversifiedspecies, can withstand shocks and rebuild itself when necessary. A good exampleof a resilient ecosystem is the coral reef in the Pacific Ocean. When speciesof fish protecting the coral reef died from pollution, algae did not grow outof control and cover the whole reef. Instead, the population of the other fishspecies that survived on algae increased to maintain the balance of the system.Eventually, the coral reef returned to a state similar to before the pollution, showcasing how resilience is vital to an ecosystem.

Themale in the conversation has encountered a problem that his electrical keyboardwas destroyed in a storm, but there will be a concert performance next week. There are two options. One is to buy a used keyboard. Second, he can cancel histrip with his friends and use the money saved up for this trip to buy a newone. Personally speaking, I recommend him to take the former solution. A usedkeyboard doesn't necessarily have poor quality. He can carefully pick one tomake sure it has a high quality. By doing this, he will be able to make theperformance and go to the trip with his friends.
Contradictingthe idea proposed by the reading passage that a famous precious painting wasforged by Michelangelo, the professor argues that these are merelymisconceptions with three pieces of evidence.
Tobegin with, the reading passage states that Michelangelo used to forge otherpaintings and thus continuously forging this painting. However, the professorrefutes that the forging case had already taken place for really a long time.Since Michelangelo had received common recognition and reputation for histalents, he didn’t need to imitate other people’s paintings.
Moreover, the professor rebuts the point in the article that there is a strikingresemblance between one of Michelangelo’s paintings and the famous one, leadingto his forging behavior. He also points out that there are still manydifferences between two paintings besides the similarities. The resemblance isjust a coincidence.
Lastbut not least, while the passage indicates that Michelangelo fabricated thepainting in order to earn more money, the professor contends that the fakingbehavior was actually quite risky. With so good reputation and social status,he had no necessity to do such things.
4. Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement? Professional athletes who receive highsalaries, such as football and basketball players, deserve what they get.
Duringthe recent day, some people claim that the professional athletes always getmuch more salaries than they deserve. From my perspective, I cannot agree withthis statement and I have several reasons to support my point.
Firstand foremost, athletes should experience the hardest training which otherpeople cannot imagine. When normal people are still in the bed, they have toget up and start running and training. And at the same time, they cannot enjoyentertainment like normal people. For example, a professional should exerciseevery day. If one day he miss the training, it not only he would punished bycoach，butalso he would feel a lot of pain than before because his muscle has accustomedto the intensity of everyday's exercise. Meanwhile, his body has already beenruled and programmed. Furthermore, in order to get better grades, it isinevitable that the athlete get hurt. Sometimes it even endangers to his life. Thus, it is obvious that they should get the high salary for the reason that hepays far more efforts than others.
What'smore, because an athlete sacrifices his life into gym, he knows little aboutothers such as social and economic life, which means that except being anathlete, he can do nothing at all. In one day, there is no doubt he would quitfrom the athlete’s career when he gets older. However, there is no work he cando after leaving gym. Hence, it is hard for him to raise himself up not mentionto other families. The only economic resource is the salary he has saved duringbeing an athlete. Therefore, the professional athlete should be given thehigher salary.
Admittedly, someone will argue that Yao Ming is becoming the coach. And he is richer thanbefore. But we cannot forget this type of people must be the minority. Muchmore people cannot have the opportunity like Yao Ming. In fact, according tothe data from the Internet, 80% of athletes retire from the gym center, theyare under huge pain which caused by high-intensive training and poor for thereason that no company will to offer job to them.
Asthe result, I strongly believe that professional athletes should be providedhigh salaries. Because they suffer a lot and do the normal people cannot do.And the public has the obligation to raise his rest of time even after retiringfor the reason that the career they do is for the honor of country.
